Bizz Johnson Trail shuttle service begins June 1, National Trails Day

SUSANVILLE, Calif. - Summer bus shuttle service on the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail begins Saturday, June 1, in conjunction with National Trails Day, and will continue every Saturday through the summer and early fall. The service is a partnership of the Bureau of Land Management and Lassen Rural Bus.

On Saturdays, the bus picks up passengers at 8:30 a.m. at the Historic Susanville Railroad Depot, 601 Richmond Rd., (passengers should arrive at 8:15 a.m.) and stops at the Devil's Corral Trailhead, Fredonyer Summit and Westwood (junction of Highway 36 and County Road A 21). This allows users to use the trail for return trips to Susanville of seven, 18 and 25 miles.

There are separate fees for the bus fare and bike shuttle. Exact change is appreciated.

In addition to the Saturday shuttles, the Lassen Rural Bus offers weekday shuttle opportunities on the West County Commuter service. Buses equipped with bike racks up riders at the Main Street and North Gay Street intersection and on Riverside Drive near Walmart, both in Susanville, and can make stops at Devil's Corral. Additional information is available by calling Lassen Rural Bus at 530-252-7433 or visiting online.
