UTSA Giving Day presents an opportunity for individuals to contribute toward their favorite university programs. Participating donors can choose from a variety of causes, including but not limited to academic colleges, scholarships, athletics, career-readiness programming and the UTSA Alumni Association.
"I am thrilled to reignite the spirit of excitement and camaraderie during another successful UTSA Giving Day," shared Karl Miller-Lugo, UTSA vice president for advancement and alumni engagement. "Once again, donors will have the opportunity to significantly increase the value of their gifts by participating in a series of challenges activated after certain dollar or donor counts are reached. Thanks to the generosity of our challenge donors, we have more than $200,000 in challenge funds ready to be leveraged, which is astounding."
Among this year's challenges is one that will benefit the UTSA Spirit of San Antonio (SOSA), which is in need of new attire after nearly 14 years. The band is inviting contributors to sponsor a new uniform that will represent SOSA's heritage and distinct identity, at a cost of $500 each.
If $20,000 can be raised to cover the first 40 uniforms, a $20,000 gift from Chris and Sara Bunch '85 will match that amount. Additionally, the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, where SOSA is housed, aims to reach a Giving Day goal of $100,000, which will unlock an additional $100,000 anonymous grant for the uniforms.
This year's campaign also welcomes Ancira Auto Group, under the direction of April Ancira '03, which will be a corporate sponsor for the magnet challenge and student leaderboards. Hidden magnets will be scattered around the Main and Downtown campusesdirect designated funds to university programs of their choosing.
