WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today delivered a speech on the U.S. Senate floor condemning Democrats' partisan attempt to federalize elections and destroy the Senate rules to enact their unpopular agenda. Democrats' legislation restricts states' ability to conduct elections, removes commonsense voter ID laws, and funnels taxpayer dollars to fund political campaigns. |
"The Democrats are attempting a federal takeover of our elections," said Dr. Cassidy. "The fact is that Georgia now has more permissive voting laws and more early voting days than President Biden's home state of Delaware."
"President Biden and the Democrats are manufacturing a fake voting rights crisis to distract from the real problems facing this nation including the highest inflation in 40 years," continued Dr. Cassidy. "There is a 'disease of division' infecting our country. And blowing up the filibuster removes one of the last things that makes us come together."
