PT Timah Tbk Promotes Mangrove Planting Towards Net Zero Emissions

PANGKALPINANG -- Mangrove forest areas or mangroves can store large amounts of carbon, as well as play a role in absorbing carbon from the effects of greenhouse gas emissions resulting from global climate change.

For this reason, PT Timah Tbk continues to promote mangrove planting as an effort to achieve net zero emission or carbon emission-free by 2060.

In 2022, PT Timah Tbk as a member of the Mining Industry Holding planted 18,100 mangroves spread across several of the company's operational areas.

This coastal area conservation effort is the company's commitment to implementing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values ??in supporting sustainable development.

PT Timah Tbk through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has planted mangroves several times in several places such as in Opas Village, Pangkalpinang City, on Beriga Beach, Central Bangka Regency, in the Belo Laut Beach Area, West Bangka Regency, on the Tanjung Balai Karimun Coast, Coastal Rebo Beach, Bangka Regency, and the Environment of Batu Behole Village, Central Bangka Regency.

In implementing the mangrove planting, PT Timah Tbk involves community groups, students, the environmental community, and students.
Mangrove planting is also an effort to protect coastal ecosystems.
