Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki and Parks and Recreation Director Ian R. Smith today announced the opening of the registration period for the 2024 Youth Career Development (YCD) Program summer session, which begins June 17.

New and returning applicants can register now at www.wilmingtonyouthjobs.com. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 12, 2024.
The City will again employ hundreds of youths this summer in numerous professions and internships within City government as well as in the business and community sectors. Mayor Purzycki said the Youth Career Development Program is intended to help younger City residents develop valuable work skills and prepare them for a successful career and future.

"I encourage our young people to take advantage of this special opportunity and apply today for a summer job or internship. This experience will help them develop a strong foundation for ongoing personal and professional growth," said Mayor Purzycki. "We all want our young people to become more responsible in a work-like setting and to explore their unique skills and talents, thereby laying a solid foundation for future success as they transition to adulthood. This program is designed to help them do just that."
"Parks and Recreation is excited to play our role in this decades-long rite of passage for so many Wilmingtonians," said Parks Director Smith. "We look forward to another successful year with our employment partners and young employees."

Those interested in summer employment must apply online or by using their smartphone. Once an account is created and the registration is received by YCD staff, the applicant will be scheduled for an intake appointment to review the application and required documents.
