Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus Co-Chairs Uplift Efforts of the HIV Community
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representatives Barbara Lee (CA-12) and Jenniffer González-Colón (PR-AL), Co-Chairs of the Congressional HIV/AIDS Caucus, today celebrated the launch of the National U=U Task Force and applauded the work of the HIV community, stakeholders, and Biden administration in the fight to end the HIV epidemic by 2030.Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), which identified the first five cases of what became known as AIDS.
"In the four decades since the first cases of AIDS were identified, this country has made strides in preventing the spread of the disease, educating the public, and destigmatizing HIV & AIDS," said Rep. Lee. "As Co-Chair of the HIV AIDS Caucus, I am proud of our bipartisan partnership and efforts to end this epidemic not only domestically but globally. Thank you to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation for recognizing the contributions of the HIV/AIDS Caucus at EGPAF's 35th Anniversary Celebration and congratulations to the Prevention Access Campaign and partner organizations on the successful launch of the National U=U Task Force-your work is changing lives."
