MDC Wolfson Campus Opera/Musical Theatre Ensemble Presents Once Upon a Mattress April 11 & 12

Miami, April 5, 2024 - Miami Dade College's (MDC) Wolfson Opera/Musical Theatre Ensemble will present Once Upon a Mattress, a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer. Performances will take place on Thursday and Friday, April & 12, at 7 p.m. atMDC Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.

Filled with lively musical numbers and witty dialogue, Once Upon a Mattress explores themes of love, acceptance and the importance of breaking free from societal expectations. The play celebrates individuality and challenges the traditional fairy tale narrative with humor and charm. The MDC production is directed by Amy Ibberson Davis, director of vocal studies at the Wolfson Campus, with musical direction by Dr. Alan Ngim, and choreography by Delma A. Iles, and will feature thestudents from the Wolfson Opera/Musical Theatre Ensemble.

The MDC Wolfson Opera Ensemble is an intensive program, dedicated to helping young students who are interested in pursuing a career in musical, operatic and theatrical performances. By taking classes in all major music performance and education areas, the program to expands students' skills and level of stage experience; giving each student the necessary skills to become a successful leader in today's music and entertainment industry.
