State Police investigate a death in Peru, NY

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 2:06 p.m., State Police members responded to Jenkins Street in the town of Peru, to conduct a welfare check. Troopers arrived on the scene and located a deceased female inside of the residence.

This investigation is ongoing, and State Police are asking for anyone who lives on Jenkins Street or surrounding streets to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity. If anyone has information regarding this incident is asked to call State Police at 518-563-3761. This incident does not appear to be a random act of violence and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The investigation is being conducted by the New York State Police, assisted by the Clinton County District Attorney's Office, Clinton County Sheriff's Department, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and local fire and EMS.
