LATROBE, PA - Mr. Greggory Brandt will begin his 10th season as producing artistic director of the Saint Vincent Summer Theatre (SVST) by going back to his roots. "The Marvelous Wonderettes," which a decade ago was Mr. Brandt's first-ever production with SVST, will be the first of three shows in the 2024 season.

"It's hard to believe that this summer marks my 10th anniversary at SVST," said Mr. Brandt, assistant professor of theater in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. "What better way to celebrate that than by directing and producing my first production, 'The Marvelous Wonderettes.'"

"The Marvelous Wonderettes" will run at 7:30 p.m. daily from May 28 through June 2, with two performances on May 29 and June1. The SVST will round out its 54th season with "Unnecessary Farce," running June 25 through June 30, and "Cheek to Cheek: Irving Berlin in Hollywood," running July 16 through July 21.

"The Marvelous Wonderettes" pays homage to the high school songleader squads of the 1950s. "This production will feature four actresses who have never been to SVST," Mr. Brandt said. "But it will feature the same iconic songs from the 1950s and '60s, as well as the same silly characters: Cindy Lou, Missy, Suzy and Betty Jean."

"Unnecessary Farce" is a comedy about two undercover cops trying to catch a crooked politician. Hilarity ensues amid confusion as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes.

"Cheek to Cheek" is a song-and-dance celebration of iconic composer Irving Berlin's biggest hits for the silver screen.

All shows will be performed in the Performing Arts Center, located in the Robert S. Carey Student Center on the Saint Vincent College campus. Tickets will go on sale at 11 a.m. May 13 at www.stvincent.edu/summertheatre. Tickets also can be purchased by calling the SVST box office at (724) 537-8900.

Free transportation will be provided from parking lots to the Carey Center. There also are a limited number of handicapped parking spots closer to the venue. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase on the Carey Center patio during the post-show Cabaret after all performances.
