Gov. Ricketts' Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Statement

LINCOLN - Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day which is celebrated on January 17, 2022.

"Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. confronted racial injustice with a message of love and a commitment to non-violence. His courageous leadership helped bring about much-needed civil rights reforms. His impassioned speeches and sermons stirred Americans to renew their commitment to our nation's founding ideal 'that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.'"

"As we celebrate Dr. King's legacy, let's aspire to the life of service he modeled, remembering that 'Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.'"
