"The fact that we got to this point is deeply troubling. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about this closure we are waiting for answers to, but the top priorities must be the protection of the inmates and their constitutional rights, the job security of innocent staff and whistleblowers, and supporting the local community," said Congressman Mark DeSaulnier.
"This closure does not right the wrongs that occurred at the facility, which is why it is imperative that federal investigations continue, and I am closely monitoring and stand ready to assist wherever I can. I remain committed to continuing my work to conduct federal oversight and bring accountability to the perpetrators of the horrific violence and abuse at the facility."
