Sen. Ossoff Delivering Resources to Strengthen Mentorship Program for Metro Atlanta Girls

Atlanta, Ga. - U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff is delivering new resources to strengthen leadership and mentorship programs for middle- and high-school girls in Atlanta.

Today, Sen. Ossoff announced he is delivering Federal resources to the L.E.A.D. Center for Youth, which provides sports-based youth development programs for metro Atlanta students.

With the funding, L.E.A.D. plans to strengthen and expand its youth tennis program for girls, which helps support students with educational and life skills.

Sen. Ossoff brought Republicans and Democrats together to deliver $400,000 for the project through this year's bipartisan government funding package.

"Bringing Republicans and Democrats together, I've appropriated funds to provide middle and high school aged girls in Atlanta with year-round leadership and mentorship programs," Sen. Ossoff said. "I thank L.E.A.D. Center Co-Founder and CEO Kelli Stewart for bringing this proposal to my office and for her leadership in the community."

"Studies show that girls in general, and especially Black girls and girls of color from marginalized, economically disadvantaged communities, drop out of sports programs due to lack of quality programs specifically for girls, lack of transportation and lack of financial resources to participate in pay to play programs," said Kelli Stewart, L.E.A.D. Center For Youth Co-founder and CEO. "Senator Ossoff's support is making it possible for us to empower deserving girls in Atlanta by immersing them in year round sports-based youth development programming that has a healing centered approach to developing the 21st century skills they need to win at the game of life."
