11/20/2023 : Director Vicari Joins Turkey Meals Giveaway at Bon Jovi's Soul Kitchen

Ocean County Press Release

NO ONE SHOULD go hungry on Thanksgiving or at any other time, said Joseph H. Vicari, Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners.

Vicari joined volunteers from the Fulfill foodbank of Ocean and Monmouth County on Friday to distribute more than 1,000 turkey meals to needy residents.

The giveaway, at The JBJ Soul Kitchen in Toms River, provided meals to both senior citizens and younger families.

Anyone who missed the giveaway can still enjoy a meal at one of several Fulfill dinner sites on Thanksgiving Day:

• Lacey United Methodist Church, 203 West Lacey Road, Forked River. Both sit-down and to-go meals are available beginning at 1 pm. Please call 609-693-5222 to arrange a delivered meal.

• St. Gregory's, at the Elks Lodge, 820 Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach. Sit-down meals from noon to 3 pm.

• Simon's Soup Kitchen, 168 Grant Avenue, Seaside Heights. Both sit-down and to-go meals from 2 pm to 3 pm. Call 732-270-5941 for more information.

• Holy Cross Lutheran Church. 415 Washington Street, Toms River. To-go meals only from noon to 4 pm. Call 732-255-4455 for more information.

Vicari, liaison to the Ocean County Office of Senior Services, said the holiday season can be especially difficult for seniors, including those older adults confined to their homes.

He encouraged seniors to reach out to the office at 732-929-2091 if they need assistance year round.
