The President inaugurates new football ground on N. Maafaru Island 14 August 2023

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated the new football ground on Maafaru Island in Noonu Atoll. The inauguration took place during the President's ongoing visit to several islands in the atoll. This event marks a significant milestone in developing sports infrastructure on Maafaru Island.

The newly inaugurated football ground on Maafaru Island, layered with turf, boasts state-of-the-art amenities and facilities. Nexta Maldives Pvt. Ltd. laid the subbase layer of the football ground, while Myna Sports Field Pvt. Ltd. was responsible for installing the turf. These enhancements will provide an improved playing experience for athletes and sports enthusiasts on the island.

The administration has implemented a number of initiatives to provide modern football grounds, futsal fields, and sports courts across the atolls. These efforts aim to promote healthy and active lifestyles among young people and foster local athletic talent development. By providing access to high-quality sports facilities, these initiatives are helping to create a more vibrant and active community.
