Wildland Fire Near Little Bighorn Battlefield

Yesterday around 5:00 PM a wildland fire was reported off Rt. 212 to the east of Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument Park boundary. Fire crews were quickly dispatched to the scene, and we would like to thank the following fire crews for their quick response. Bighorn County Fire, Crow Agency BIA, Padlock Ranch, Rocky Mountain Region BIA helicopter team, Michigan Agency BIA, Minnesota Agency BIA, Midwest Region BIA, and the BIA Police.

These crews did an excellent job at containing the fire to keep it from spreading across the park boundary onto NPS land. The fire came within 8 feet of the park boundary.

The fire was contained at approximately 39 acres & no cause of the origin of the fire at this time.
