Amata Highlights National Small Business Week

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amatahighlighted National Small Business Week, which has been celebrated for 60 years, and thanked our small businesses.

"Thank you to the small businesses all over our islands that do so much for our community," said Aumua Amata. "Our islands depend on our small businesses. By definition, almost all our retail, restaurants, and other services are small businesses. We can appreciate all those who invest and build right here rather than some more populated place. It takes courage, risk, ingenuity, and lots of hard work to build a business."

"Many, if not most, issues that come before Congress affect small businesses in some way," she continued. "Federal and local governments have important limits but a necessary role promoting good conditions that allow opportunity, such as dependable roads, broadband, water infrastructure, and support for health care and education, to encourage growth without making taxes and regulations burdensome."

She concluded, "Thank you to American Samoa Small Business Development Center, ASCC, the American Samoa Chamber of Commerce, and other local leadership efforts involved with strengthening our small business community."
