Currently on Display (May 1, 2024): Artist Carol Williard van Ginkel

MEET THE ARTIST! Monday, May 20 from 5:30 - 7pm Lakeway City Hall (1102 Lohmans Crossing)

Carol is a renaissance woman - former actress, dancer, college professor, teacher and coach. She started needle painting about nine years ago and now creates amazingly detailed art with needle and thread. Carol's grandmother taught her to embroider when she was 7 years old; mostly cross stitch of handkerchiefs and pillow-cases. As an adult, she became enamored with needle painting when she saw a friend could make nature look so real with just thread. This began a journey; from flowers and birds to landscapes, Buddhas, reptiles, and abstracts. Carol has shown her work locally and has been commissioned to make portraits of dogs and birds. She has also published her book, Nicotine Free! How to Live a Smoke-Free Life, and is passionate about helping others quit smoking.
