Site Manager Chris Beagan selected Talya Housman as the new Museum Technician at Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters National Historic Site and John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site, effective October 25, 2021.

Housman has served as a seasonal Museum Technician at the two sites since spring 2020. "Talya brings tremendous passion, skill, and commitment to the Longfellow and Kennedy museum collections," said Beagan. "She sees the big picture and is excited to dive into the details, whether working on museum housekeeping or heling a researcher in their quest to learn more. We're thrilled to have Talya join the curatorial team year-round."

"The magic of Longfellow House-Washington's Headquarters begins in the collections," said Housman. "These items allow us to bring to life fascinating stories of individuals from George Washington to Henry Longfellow to Alice Longfellow to Henry Dana. The opportunity to care for and study these collections is the work of a lifetime."

Prior to working with the Longfellow and Kennedy sites, Housman worked at Threadable Books, the Center for Digital Scholarship at Brown University, and Roger Williams National Memorial. She edited a digital edition of Henry Oxinden's Miscellany for the Folger Shakespeare Library and has written for numerous publications and organizations including the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Historical Societies.

Housman holds a bachelor's degree in history and political science from Trinity College Dublin and a master's degree and PhD in history from Brown University. She lives in the Boston area with her husband Aaron, a software engineer, and their son, Forrest.
