Team China retains Sudirman Cup trophy

The Chinese badminton team retained the Sudirman Cup trophy by thrashing South Korea 3-0 in the final in Suzhou on the afternoon of May 21. It is the third consecutive time and the 13th time in total that Team China topped the podium at the world mixed team championships.

In the tournament's history, the Chinese squad won the championship for 4 times in a row from 1995 to 2001 and six times in a row from 2005 to 2015. And this year, it clinched a three-peat in the Suzhou event which was a test of all-around strength of a team. "Playing badminton is great fun and good for health. I hope that more people can participate in this sport and give more support to our national team who will always live up to people's expectations," said Zhang Jun, president of the Chinese Badminton Association.
