The Exploitation of Greta Thunberg continues

I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and I can assure you, it took a lot of work and study. I wish I'd known then that all I had to do to get a theology degree from a prestigious university was to scowl at my elders and demand, "How DARE you" exhale CO2 into the atmosphere. Because that's all 20-year-old "climate activist" Greta Thunberg had to do, and she's just been named one of eight recipients of honorary doctorates of theology from the University of Helsinki. That university used to have an impressive reputation, but I don't think it will survive this decision.

Ms. Thunberg's seven fellow doctoral recipients have actual credentials, like one who has an MA and is the Director of the Department of World Service at the Lutheran World Federation. But at least this is official confirmation that the crusade Greta represents is not science, it's a pagan religion.

As David Strom points out in the linked article, if Greta had actually studied theology, she would be familiar with 1 Corinthians, 13-11: "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways."

But as I've said before, I don't criticize Greta Thunberg for being an angry child who's been terrified by environmental apocalypse porn and exploited as a figurehead. I blame the adults, like her parents, who molded and exploited her, and the organizations like the UN and now, the University of Helsinki, that have bowed before her and enabled her exploitation. As Strom aptly writes:

"I have no particular problem with Greta Thunberg because her public persona is a construction forced upon us by the adults around her. She has been groomed, not sexually, but ideologically to become an idol paraded around for us to worship. The innocence of a child who we are to believe we are despoiling in our desire for wealth.

The truth is that the people who have despoiled her future are those who celebrate her narcissistic activism. They have created a monstrous person and called her a saint."
