Avenue C and 12th Street intersection to become four-way stop

To enhance public safety, the intersection of 12th Street and Avenue C will become a four-way stop beginning Monday, April 8.

The area is scheduled for slurry seal work April 3-4, weather permitting. Afterward, the City will install signs at each corner of the intersection and add standard lane markings for a four-way stop. Lighted message boards will be placed ahead of the intersection to temporarily alert motorists of the impending traffic control change.

Previously, Avenue C drivers moved continuously through this intersection while 12th Street motorists were required to stop, often waiting lengthy periods for a break in traffic. Additionally, residents have communicated safety concerns there.

In the long term, a traffic signal is planned for this intersection. The four-way stop is being employed until then.
