The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze, accompanied by the representative of the Kakheti region, Mr. Giorgi Aladashvili, got familiar with the natural disaster results in the Kakheti region.
The Deputy Minister met with winegrower farmers in several municipalities. The Deputy called on farmers to use their agro-insurance more actively.
"Every year, disasters cause problems across the country. As a result, the necessity for insurance becomes even more apparent. It will be challenging to regulate farming activity without it. Agro-insurance is a viable option that farmers should use to the greatest extent possible. The state co-financing program increased from 50% to 70% this year and is a crucial support for farmers", Mr. Tengiz Nasaridze noted.
According to the Deputy Minister, there is progress in the number of insured farmers, although more is needed.
The intense hail and wind on September 2 damaged various crops, including vineyards, in Kvareli, Telavi, Akhmeta, Sighnaghi, and Gurjaani Municipalities, Kakheti region.
The harvest coordination headquarters in Telavi City operates 24 hours a day, and all resources are mobilized to ensure that the affected growers can harvest their crops without interruption.
The state enterprise LLC "Harvest Management Company" is ready to receive and process hail-damaged grapes from grape growers and pay GEL 0.90 per kilogram.
