Washington, DC - Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) has secured $850,000 in community project funding for the replacement of the deteriorating retaining wall along Upper Prospect Road in Atlantic Highlands.
"Replacing the crumbling retaining wall along Upper Prospect Road is not just a matter of infrastructure repair; it's about safeguarding public safety and ensuring uninterrupted access for residents. This project will mitigate the risk of a catastrophic collapse, providing peace of mind for all passersby," said Pallone.
The Upper Prospect Road retaining wall plays a crucial role in maintaining vehicular access and safety for the community. Recent inspections have revealed significant signs of deterioration across multiple sections of the wall, indicating potential failure. If left unaddressed, a collapse could disrupt essential services and isolate a neighborhood, affecting daily commutes and emergency response routes.
"The Borough of Atlantic Highlands is grateful for the assistance Congressman Frank Pallone has always provided in securing federal funds. It is integral to the long-term safety and sustainability of the municipality that its infrastructure is maintained and repaired when needed. The overall municipality will benefit from these improvements to the Upper Prospect Road retaining wall. We are thankful to have a congressman who always looks out for the interests of the constituents in New Jersey's 6thcongressional district, which includes our beautiful and historic borough of Atlantic Highlands," Mayor Lori Hohenleitner.
The funding for this project was requested by Congressman Pallone in the Fiscal Year 2025 annual spending bill. Each year, members of the U.S. House may request community funding projects in their district to direct federal resources toward the biggest needs in their communities.
