More than €1.8 million for the Furniture & Works of Art sale!

On 14th and 15th June, the Furniture & Works of Art department held a highly successful sale, achieving a total of over €1.8 million. Including several private collections and lots of solid provenance, the sale showcased major pieces from the European decorative arts panorama, including furniture, silverware, porcelain and sculpture. Reknown international collectors turned out in force for both sales sessions.

A Louis XVI Mechanical Games Table

Sold €236,160

One of the highlights of the sale was a Louis XVI period mechanical games table by the talented cabinetmaker David Roentgen, which fetched €236,160, while a meuble d'entre-deux forming secretaire, stamped by Martin Carlin, fetched €104,960, well above its initial estimate.

Sold €55,104

The collection of a leading Parisian art collector, displaying a wide selection of Louis XV won over buyers : a pair of fauteuils a la reine attributed to René Cresson sold for €55,104; a suite of ten chairs a la reine a chassis stamped by Louis Cresson and from the prestigious Patino-Ojjeh collection sold for €112,832 while a pair of fauteuils a la reine attributed to Louis Delanois sold for €47,232.

Other notable results included a magnificent neoclassical games table by Giuseppe Maggiolini which sold for €23,616 while a pair of Sevres porcelain pot-pourris probably delivered for the Dauphine Marie-Josephe de Saxe sold for €55,104.
