HONOLULU - On Saturday, May 11, 2024, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., members of Hawai'i Bicycling League (HBL) will replace damaged and missing traffic delineators along the Diamond Head side of the Ward Avenue protected bike lane, between South King Street and Auahi Street.

Work for this project will be performed under the coordination of the City's Mālama O Ka 'Āina community volunteer program, which is administered by the Department of Facility Maintenance, Division of Road Maintenance (DRM). Additional support will be provided by the City's Department of Transportation Services.

HBL's mission is to encourage and enable more people to ride bicycles for health, recreation, and transportation. This project will help kickoff National Bike to Work Week (May 13-19), which is meant to promote using a bicycle to commute to work. For more information on HBL and the many other events it organizes throughout the year, please visit https://hbl.org/.

The City is grateful to the members of HBL for volunteering their time and resources, as regular maintenance of the protected bike lanes is essential in providing a safe and pleasant riding experience for all its users.

To find out more about other volunteer opportunities, please call DRM at (808) 768-3606.
