Active Travel Route: Marl Lane & A470

Active Travel Route: Marl Lane & A470

Work starts: 8 January 2024
Work finishes: 30 March 2024 (weather depending)

We are pleased to let you know that Welsh Government has given the Council funding to improve the route for pedestrians and cyclists on Marl Lane running alongside the A470 and linking to Narrow Lane.

What is happening?
We will be constructing new links for the cycle and pedestrian route along Marl Lane, the A470 and Narrow Lane. These will link to the Nant Y Glyn area and create two new toucan crossing points over the A470. The work will also include new street lighting.

Will it affect traffic and pedestrians?
There will be temporary traffic lights along Marl Lane and the A470 at times while we carry out the work.
Pedestrian access using the footpaths along Marl Lane and Nant Y Glyn may be restricted at times- we will try to keep disruption to a minimum.

What is Active Travel?
The Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013 requires councils to improve active travel routes to encourage walking and cycling for short distance everyday journeys, rather than making car journeys.
