Lane closures planned for US 62/385 road improvements project

SEAGRAVES -US 62/385 and SH 83 drivers in Seagraves can expect traffic changes next week as crews begin work to rebuild the southbound US 62/385 lanes and westbound SH 83.

Starting on Wednesday, April 17, US 62/385 traffic will be reduced to one-lane in each direction. All SH 83 traffic will also be shifted onto the eastbound lanes and remain one lane in each direction.

The US 62/385, SH 83 intersection will temporarily be converted onto a 4-way stop and drivers are asked to slow down, pay extra attention as the approach intersection, and watch for workers and equipment working close to traffic.

The work is part of a $15 million project making roadway and drainage improvements to more than five miles of US 62/385 in Gaines County, from the Terry County Line to the southern Seagraves city limits, and rebuilding a segment of SH 83. Other improvements include rebuilding sidewalks and driveways.

The project is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
