The Operational Coordination Bureau convened its third session. The meeting was attended by Operational Coordination Bureau members and Minister of the Interior Danilo Šaranović.

The Operational Coordination Bureau highlighted the excellent cooperation among intelligence and security agencies, the Special State Prosecutor's Office, other relevant prosecutors' offices, and international partners. This collaboration has yielded consistently remarkable results in the decisive fight against organised crime and corruption.

The Operational Coordination Bureau commended the significant contribution of intelligence and security agencies' personnel and other relevant authorities, who diligently and courageously conduct activities to identify and prosecute criminal offenders.

Emphasising the need for heightened protection and security measures, particularly within the Special State Prosecutor's Office and Special Police Department, the Operational Coordination Bureau called upon relevant intelligence and security agencies to enhance security for key individuals. This is particularly crucial given the complexity and challenges associated with handling major cases and prosecuting organised criminal groups with substantial resources.

The Operational Coordination Bureau welcomed the intensification and imminent completion of activities related to drafting regulations on the control of assets, income, and lifestyle of police officers. Additionally, it acknowledged the accelerated work of the Internal Control Department of the Ministry of the Interior, reinforcing efforts to identify security breaches among police officers, all aimed at cleansing police structures of ties to crime, corruption, and other illicit influences.

The Operational Coordination Bureau commended efforts to address security challenges, noting swift resolutions in recent fatal incidents linked to organised crime, with suspects apprehended within hours. Police registered 1,907 criminal offenses between 1 November and 1 April, achieving a 77% clearance rate for crimes committed by unknown perpetrators and a 95% clearance rate for serious crimes against life and limb.

The Operational Coordination Bureau noted that interdepartmental working groups, led by the Ministry of the Interior, have developed draft strategies for combating transnational crime for the period 2024-2027 and improving traffic safety for the period 2024-2030. These drafts will be submitted to the Government for further action after obtaining necessary opinions from relevant domestic and international institutions. The Operational Coordination Bureau reviewed monthly work reports and dynamic plans of interdepartmental working teams, addressing various matters within its jurisdiction.
