Officer Involved Shooting

On October 30th, 2024 a shooting occurred on the Southern State Parkway Westbound in the area of exit 17, West Hempstead Nassau County, NY between a Trooper and suspect who fled the scene. The Trooper is currently in stable condition at a local hospital and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect vehicle involved is a Black Charger with New Jersey Temporary Tag NJ 997636T.

Southern State Parkway is closed in the area of exit 18 Westbound at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation and the New York State Police is asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to call at 631-756-3300.
