The film is produced by EX NIHILO, Patrick Sobelman, and LES COMPAGNONS DU CINEMA, Florence Gastaud & MichelHazanavicius with STUDIOCANAL and LES FILMS DU FLEUVE, Jean-Pierre & LucDardenne, as co-producers and will be released by STUDIOCANAL in cinemas in France 20 November 2024 and coming soon internationally. It is an adaptation of the eponymous best-selling book by acclaimed French playwright and children's books author Jean-Claude Grumberg, who is co-writing the film with Hazanavicius. Translated in 16 languages and sold in 20 territories.

Written and drawn by Michel Hazanavicius himself over the last 5 years, the film is narrated by iconic French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant, with Grégory Gadebois and DominiqueBlanc voicing the woodcutter and his wife for the French version.
