ATSU-ASHS recognizes outstanding alumni

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) alumni, faculty, and staff gathered April 5 to recognize outstanding alumni of the year.

The evening marked the inaugural ATSU-ASHS on-campus alumni reunion celebration, providing dinner and dessert catered by a local Italian restaurant, fellowship, and networking with more than 60 people in attendance.

Patrick McKeon, PhD, ATC, CSCS , MS, '01, an alumnus of the Master of Sports Healthcare program, was presented with the 2024 ATSU-ASHS Alumni Lifetime Achievement Scholar Award.

Brittney Hulsey, DMSc, '22, PA, '15, was presented with the 2024 ATSU-ASHS Alumni Emerging Scholar Award.

Magon Saunders, DHSc, MS, RDN, LD, DCES, FADCES, '13, was presented with the 2024 ATSU-ASHS Alumni Community Service Award.

Bijal Toprani, PT, DPT, '17, received the 2024 ATSU-ASHS Alumni Health Care Innovation Award.

Bob Behnen, MBA, interim vice president, University Advancement, honored alumni for 10, 15, and 20-plus years of sustained giving.

Ann Lee Burch PT, EdD, MPH, dean, ATSU-ASHS, thanked the ATSU-ASHS Alumni Board for working with Melody Chambers, director, Alumni Relations, to review nominations and select finalists and winners.

"A special thank you to Bob Behnen, Melody Chambers, Emma Muriel, associate director of Alumni Relations, ATSU-ASHS staff Mellissa Eisenmman Conrad, executive assistant, and Ashley White, manager, Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, for all of the work in organizing and preparing for the evening," Dr. Burch said. "Alumni left the celebratory dinner eager to come back the next day for the ATSU Spring Expo and for a welcome breakfast with ATSU President Craig Phelps, DO, '84."

Next year's alumni event will include a celebration recognizing the 30th year of ATSU-ASHS.
