Softball swept on final day of spring trip

KISSIMMEE, FL - The Penn State Berks softball team closed out its spring break trip with a 7-3 setback to Defiance College followed by a 9-5 loss to Misericordia University on Thursday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (2-6) fell in a 3-0 hole after the first two innings against Defiance, but were able to get back into the game with two runs in the top of the fourth. Both teams exchanged runs in their next at-bats, before the Yellow Jackets (6-2) tacked on three runs late.

and both finished 2-for-3, with Rozick also scoring a run. went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple, while and both added an RBI. and each scored a run.

Rozick struck out two batters in six innings of work.

Against the Cougars, Berks put up five runs in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 5-2. The lead was short lived as Misericordia recorded six runs in the fifth inning and added one more in the sixth.

Faust went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead the offense, while Omlor was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in. Hart, Rozick, and all had singles and an RBI.

The Nittany Lions return to action with their home opener against Alvernia University on Thursday, March 15 at 3 p.m.
