This Tax Day, Save the Children urges the U.S. Senate to swiftly pass the bipartisan Child Tax Credit (CTC) proposal approved by the House of Representatives which would provide meaningful support to millions of children in families with low incomes.

Roy Chrobocinski, Managing Director of Domestic Policy at Save the Children, said:

"On Tax Day, Save the Children calls on the Senate to act swiftly to pass the expansions to the Child Tax Credit that would help millions of children in low-income families, and lift half a million of children out of poverty.

"After a strong, bipartisan vote in favor of the Child Tax Credit expansion included in the Tax Relief for American Families & Workers Act in the House in January, America's families are looking to the Senate to urgently support this bipartisan agreement.

"The expanded Child Tax Credit would meaningfully reduce child poverty, and especially help children of color and children in rural America. The provisions would benefit one in five of all children under 17, which includes one in three Black and Latino children, and a quarter of children in rural America."
