Published on February 01, 2023

Naming the three Panther Island bridges spanning the planned Trinity River bypass channel downtown is not being pursued at this time.

The bridgesare a part of the Trinity River Vision/Central City Flood Control Project designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers:

  • Henderson Street
  • North Main Street
  • White Settlement Road

They were completed in 2021.

The latest: A committeerecently recommended to hold off considering names while HR&A Advisors, the real estate and economic development consultant serving as project manager to help shape the Panther Island vision, does its work.

Dana Burghdoff, assistant city manager, said most Fort Worth bridges are not named, rather are known by the name of the street they are on.

In early 2022,about 1,700 names were submitted for review and a possible public vote.
