Open enrollment set for April 17-May 3

The University of New Mexico's Department of Human Resources provides an annual Open Enrollment period for benefits giving employees the opportunity to enroll in, cancel or make changes to medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment, and disability plans. This year's Open Enrollment will start April 17 and run through May 3.

There are only three opportunities for an employee to change benefits enrollment: as a newly hired employee, during a Qualifying Change in status, and during the annual Open Enrollment.

How to review benefits

Prior to making any changes to enrollment status, employees are encouraged to review current benefits and dependent information.

  1. Log into myUNM with UNM NetID and Password.
  2. Click on "Enter LoboWeb"
  3. Click on "Benefits and Deductions"
  4. Click on "Benefits Statement"

Verify identity through Duo 2-factor authentication.

Through Open Enrollment, employees can enroll in or make changes to medical, dental, and vision plans and enroll/re-enroll in a Flexible Spending Plan (FSA) through Lobo Web. Employees can also enroll in or make changes to life, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), and disability insurance with a paper form. For full benefit details, visit Open Enrollment.

During Open Enrollment, current VEBA participants have the opportunity to opt-out or opt back into their VEBA contributions. By opting out of VEBA, participants forfeit future access to retiree medical and dental benefits. Employees who previously opted out of VEBA have one opportunity to opt back in. This Open Enrollment is available to those employees who opted out between June 1, 2018 and May 1, 2019.

HR will contact VEBA Opt-In eligible employees directly. For more information, visit the VEBA webpage.

OE is also your opportunity to enroll or re-enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for health care, dependent care, or both. When making your FSA elections for 2024-2025, review the FSA website for updated information about the plans. Plan changes take effect for FY25, from July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025. If you are currently enrolled in an FSA, you must re-enroll for July 1 - June 30.

Additionally, medical premiums are increasing, however, UNM leadership has approved a change in the salary tiers for premium contributions that reduces the financial impact for many plan participants. Visit the OE website for more information.

Happy with your current benefit elections? No action is required on your part and your current benefit elections will continue for the 2024-2025 Plan Year unless you want a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) in 2024/2025. FSAs do not roll over from one year to the next. You must enroll/re-enroll in FSA every Plan Year.
