Brazil Sets Standard for Pigments in Food Contact Cellulosic Materials and Articles

SG 64/23

Brazil has set a grayscale standard when food contact cellulosic materials and articles are tested to BS EN 646. This new standard will become effective on November 22, 2023.

On May 22, 2023, Brazil's Ministry of Health/National Health Surveillance Agency/Collegiate Board (Ministério da Saúde/Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária/Diretoria Colegiada) issued Resolution - RDC No. 798 of May 19, 2023 (Resolução - RDC Nº 798, de 19 de Maio de 2023 (RDC 798/2023)) to revise Resolution A - RDC No. 88, of June 29, 2016, in relation to the technical regulation on cellulosic materials, packaging and equipment intended to come into contact with food and other measures.

This amendment sets a grayscale requirement when tested to BS EN 646 for pigments and dyes in food contact cellulosic materials and articles.
