The JKU's Institute for Business and Vocational Education celebrated its 50th anniversary on April 25, 2024 along with nearly 100 guests, including the Dean of the JKU Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics & Business. The guest list included a number of employees who conducted research and taught business education at the JKU over the past five decades, as well as team members from three other Austrian academic locations. Institute head Georg Hans Neuweg provided a historical overview of business education in Linz. Among the guests of honor were Reinhard Czycholl (appointed as a university professor on April 1, 1974), and emeritus professor Wilfried Schneider (formerly at the Vienna University of Economics & Business). Dean Pruckner presented him with a special cake and emphasized the high productivity of business education in Linz.

The 17th Annual Austrian Business Education Symposium took place at the JKU the very next day.

The annual symposium alternates each year between the Vienna University of Economics & Business, the University of Graz, the University of Innsbruck, and the JKU Linz, bringing researchers, scholars, educators, and educational administration representatives together. Some 150 guests attentively followed the 20 different presentations that covered a wide range of topics ranging from using ChatGPT in the classroom and problems with financial fraud, to design thinking and learning analytics.
