NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Alaska Renewables, LLC (Alaska Renewables)

PROJECT NAME: LAS 34748

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The project is located approximately 40 miles northeast of Fairbanks.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: The proposed towers will be located within Sections 6, 14, and 32, Township 4 North, Range 6 East, Fairbanks Meridian, within Section 23, Township 5 North, Range 6 East, Fairbanks Meridian, within Section 24, Township 5 North, Range 5 East, Fairbanks Meridian, and within Section 11 Township 3 North, Range 6 East, Fairbanks Meridian.

The proposed route of travel is located within Sections 4, 5, 9, 15, 16, 21, 22, 28, 29, 30, and 31, Township 5 North, Range 7 East, Fairbanks Meridian, within Sections 31, 32, 34, 35, and 36, Township 5 North, Range 6 East, Fairbanks Meridian, and within Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 Township 4 North, Range 6 East, Fairbanks Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Alaska Renewables is applying to place six temporary meteorological towers, that are 50-110 meters in heigh, as well as an associated power supply and ground-based Lidar system to measure wind speeds. Each tower would be placed within a 2.5-acre cleared area. The meteorological sites will be accessed via ground transportation and helicopter. Additionally, Alaska Renewables is applying to travel cross country with up to four vehicles including ATVs, snowmachines, side by side sled or trailer. The vehicles will be used to transport meteorological equipment and personnel to the proposed meteorological tower sites.

The public is invited to comment on this activity.
