The City of Tehachapi's Development Services Department received two awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers Southern San Joaquin Branch for their outstanding work on bringing the Valley Park and 2023 Local Grind and Overlay projects to fruition. The City of Tehachapi received two of the eight awards presented during the ASCE Southern San Joaquin Branch awards ceremony.
The "Outstanding Parks and Recreation Project" was awarded to the city's Valley Park project. The one-acre, multi-use park that includes a 5-a-side soccer field, playground, picnic area, public art, and shade structures was completed and opened to the public in June. The recognition was shared with 4Creeks Inc., the designers of the project.
The "Outstanding Community Improvement Project" was awarded to the city's 2023 Local Grind and Overlay project which included the rehabilitation of West D, E, F, and South Pauley streets and improvements to the alleyways between Green and Mojave streets. The recognition was shared in part with AECOM, the designers of the project.
"I am proud of how the team worked together to complete these projects that now enhance our community and improve the quality of life of our residents," said City Engineer Andrew Norton.
