Prime Minister Golob on World Earth Day: 'Everyone has the right to clean water'.

Prime Minister Robert Golob marked World Earth Day by attending and speaking at the inauguration of the Mrzlek water pipeline and gave a speech. The new pipeline will provide clean water to approximately 1,100 people and increase the security of the water supply. The project was co-funded by the Government.

"I can't think of a more beautiful and fitting place to be on Earth Day than here. On Earth Day, we should recognise the importance of preserving nature for future generations. We are proud to have one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe in this region, the Soča River," said Prime Minister Golob, who grew up near the Soča River.

There has been a blemish on this stunning river, right here in the municipality of Kanal. It is therefore appropriate that on Earth Day we take steps towards a cleaner environment. This year we have already made progress towards cleaner water and air. I am proud to have played a part in these achievements as Prime Minister," he said.

The residents of Močila, Anhovo and Robidni Breg previously relied on the Močila water treatment plant, which used river water, as their main source of drinking water.

Prime Minister Golob praised the resilience and determination of the local community and the mayor. Expressing great satisfaction, he said: "Let us be inspired by your achievements, not just on Earth Day, but every day. Clean water and air are basic rights for everyone".
