Temporary closure of Leek Household Waste Recycling Centre for electrical work

Leek household waste recycling centre (HWRC) is closing for a five-day electrical upgrade.

The site on Fowlchurch Road will be closed from Monday 22 April to Friday 26 April 2024. The centre will reopen to the public at 9am on Saturday 27 April.

Contractors will be carrying out electrical works along the access road to the site in conjunction with essential upgrades of the adjoining waste transfer station.

Simon Tagg, Cabinet Member for Environment, Infrastructure and Climate Change at Staffordshire County Council said:

"These are essential upgrades to our HWRC facilities and the nearby adjoining waste transfer station.

"Our contractors will be doing their best to get the work done as efficiently as possible and I would like to thank people for their patience and co-operation while the work is carried out."

Throughout the temporary closure, residents can recycle their household waste at the nearby Cheadle or Biddulph HWRC which will be open as usual. Cheadle HWRC is open on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Biddulph HWRC is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
