90% nationwide coverage of COSMOTE 5G, much earlier than the target
Athens, Thessaloniki, and 68 other cities across Greece have more than 95% 5G coverage
The nationwide population coverage[1] of COSMOTE 5G, the largest 5G network in the country[2], has reached 90%, with COSMOTE achieving, much earlier, the ambitious target it had set for the end of 2023.The population 5G coverage has exceeded 95% in Athens, Thessaloniki and 68 other cities across Greece.
In particular, in Athens and Thessaloniki coverage has reached 97%, while 5G coverage is above 95% in: Attica, in Artemis, Aspropyrgos, Vari, Gerakas, Elefsina, Koropi, Megara, Nea Makri, Pallini and Salamina. In northern Greece: in Alexandroupolis, Alexandroupoli, Veroia, Yannitsa, Grevena, Drama, Edessa, Kavala, Kastoria, Katerini, Katerini, Kilkis, Kozani, Komotini, Komotini, Naoussa, Xanthi, Polygyros, Ptolemaida, Serres and Florina. In central Greece: in Amfissa, Thebes, Karpenisi, Lamia, Livadia, and Chalkida. In the Peloponnese: in Amaliada, Argos, Kalamata, Korinthos, Nafplio, Patras, Pyrgos, Sparta, and Tripoli. In western Greece: in Agrinio, Aigio, Arta, Igoumenitsa, Ioannina, Messolonghi and Preveza. In Thessaly: Volos, Karditsa, Larissa, Larissa and Trikala. In the Ionian Islands: Argostoli, Zakynthos, Corfu and Lefkada. In Crete: Agios Nikolaos, Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania. Finally, Ermoupoli on Syros, Kos, Mytilene, Rhodes, Samos and Chios have coverage over 95%.
"Thanks to the intensive work of our technicians, but also to our continuous investments in new generation infrastructure, we managed to achieve, in the third quarter of the year, the target we had set for the coverage of COSMOTE 5G by the end of 2023. Top distinctions for the COSMOTE network
For yet another year, in 2023, COSMOTE's mobile network received distinctions for the speed and quality of its services. According to Ookla[3]®'s Speedtest®, COSMOTE was distinguished as "the fastest mobile network in Greece" for the 7th consecutive year with subscribers enjoying on average, more than double download speeds comparatively to competitive mobile providers. In addition, COSMOTE received the 'Best in Test' certification from the internationally recognised benchmarking company, umlaut, now part of Accenture, for the 9th consecutive time, for Mobile Internet and voice services.
