Donald Trump and House Republicans Keep Trying To Hide Their Anti-Abortion Extremism – But They Can’t Hide From Their Records

NBC: Trump says Republicans always wanted to leave abortion law to states. That's false.

For years, Donald Trump and House Republicans have proudly signed onto anti abortion bans and cheered on the overturning of Roe v. Wade. But now, Trump and vulnerable House Republicans are all scrambling to hide their deeply unpopular agenda from voters.

REMINDER: Vulnerable House Republicans have tried to "rebrand themselves" or are "avoiding the issue entirely" as voters continue to make clear how toxic they find these anti-abortion policies.

Case in point:

  • Earlier this week, Rep. Scott Perry (PA-10) lied and claimed he thought abortion should be left up to the states despite simultaneously backing a national abortion ban in Congress for the past seven years.

  • Freshman Rep. Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) similarly touted her anti-abortion stance on her campaign website when she ran for office and got caught scrubbing every single mention of abortion from the page.

  • Not to be outdone, freshman Rep. Zach Nunn (IA-03) has tried to backtrack on his anti-abortion stance in Congress despite raising his hand in support of a complete abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the woman's life during his campaign.

Other vulnerable House Republicans and candidates who have have lied to cover their tracks include:

  • Rep. David Schweikert (AZ-01)

  • Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-45)

  • Joe Kent (WA-03)

  • Allison Esposito (NY-18)

  • Tom Barrett (MI-07)

  • Former Rep. Yvette Herrell (NM-02)

  • Former Rep. Mayra Flores (TX-34)

  • Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-02)

House Republicans will say or do anything to cover up their anti-abortion agenda, but actions speak louder than words.

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
"House Republicans and Trump are working on the same playbook of hiding their plans to pass a nationwide abortion ban and hoping no one notices. Unfortunately for them, we have the receipts."
