Our partners at the National Weather Service report there is a good chance we will receive around one inch of snow beginning later this evening, Saturday, January 21, and lasting through early Sunday morning. Crews are prepared to respond to arriving snow. Roads could become slick. Remember to take it slow when it snows.

Public works crews were called in earlier this morning to respond to arriving snow. The team will plow and salt posted snow routes and hills until they are clear.

Crews have responded to patchy snow arriving overnight. There is a potential for another ½ inch to fall by mid-morning. The Snow Team will conclude response to this event once snow is out of the area and a pass has been made on all Posted Snow Routes. Expect slick conditions through Tuesday and watch for melting as temperatures rise above freezing beginning mid-week through the weekend.

Our friends at the National Weather Service have another round of snow in the forecast beginning later tonight, Sunday, December 25. Up to 1.5" of new snow is expected. Crews are prepared to clear newly arriving snow from Posted Snow Routes; however, caution that frigid temps mean salt will remain ineffective in immediate melting. Watch for slick spots through Tuesday, December 27. We should see some appreciable melting by mid-week with rising temps.

Snow has ended and is moving into the brutal wind and temp phase predicted for this storm. Crews expect to clear and salt Posted Snow Routes and hills by this evening. Know that while salt has been applied to these areas, melting will only occur once temperatures improve early next week and/or the sun arrives. For this reason, residential roads will not be cleared to avoid "sheet of ice/glazing" conditions. Expect slick conditions everywhere throughout the holiday due to the frigid temperatures and the inability to melt.

Staff will be monitoring and clearing outlying areas prone to recovering due to blowing and drifting in the days ahead.

If visiting the Downtown, use the ramps for free through 8 A.M., Friday, December 23rd, to avoid a ticket and tow as plows make their rounds.

Crews are out treating patchy snowfall that began arriving early this morning. Advice for the day - travel with caution. Our friends National Weather Service are calling for up to an additional three inches of snow to fall by this afternoon, Thursday, December 22. Snow combined with falling temperatures and high winds will create hazardous travel conditions.

Crews are prepared to respond as needed.

Watch for slick spots, take it slow, increase your following distance, and bundle up if you are heading out.

Our partners at the National Weather Service predict the area will receive three to five inches of snow beginning overnight through Thursday, December 22. This winter storm will be followed by wind gusts of up to 40 MPH and frigid temps. Due to hazardous travel conditions, the City of Davenport is declaring a Snow Emergency effective 8 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, through 8 A.M., Friday, December 23.

The public should know that high winds will cause poor driving conditions, blowing, drifting, and recovering of roads.

Park off-street on Posted Snow Routes to avoid a ticket and tow. Be sure to prepare for poor travel conditions if you must go out. If you visit Downtown Davenport, park in the ramps for free during the Snow Emergency.

Light snow has caused some spotty slushy conditions out there this morning. Crews will be clearing Posted Snow Routes as needed today, with snow expected to pick up and continue through the day. Prepare for slick spots on roads, bridges, and overpasses by taking it slow and increasing your following distance.

Our friends at the National Weather Service tell us the first accumulating snow of the season could arrive overnight Monday, November 14, and last through Tuesday, November 15, with a slight chance for more on Wednesday. It sounds like this will be a light, all-day snow with the potential to leave us with 1 to 1.5 inches. Take it slow and increase your following distance tomorrow. #Davenport's Snow Team is prepared to respond to arriving snow.

Winter is just around the corner, and Davenport is making preparations. Plow blades and spreaders are being installed, training conducted, and our salt supply has been replenished.

As part of winter preparation, the City encourages all residents and visitors to be prepared. This includes signing up for Snow Emergency Alerts. Signing up for alerts is the most reliable way to know when a Snow Emergency has been declared and when parking on posted snow routes is prohibited.

Snow emergencies are declared when the area is expected to receive ice and/or hazardous volumes of snow. Parking is prohibited on Posted Snow Routes when a snow emergency is declared to help Public Works crews ensure the highest traffic volume roads and hills receive priority service, which helps everyone get around when the snow starts to fly.
