Murray River Council is hosting a free workshop for prospective Council candidates in the 2024 Local Government Elections.

The session will focus on the experience of a Councillor and will feature insights from current councillors.

Council's Chief Executive Officer, Terry Dodds said the aim of the briefing is to give people a better understanding of the role and responsibilities of an elected member.

"Councillors play a crucial role in the decision-making process at Council and it is essential anyone considering nominating to run in the upcoming election understands what is involved," he said.

"As a Council body, we do all we can to support our elected members, and we hope the candidate briefing will provide a good overview of what is involved in the role and answer all the questions prospective candidates may have."

"If you're considering running for Council, or maybe even just thinking about it, I encourage you to join this session and hear directly from Councillors about what it is really like."

The details are of the session are:

"Whilst the initial workshop run by Local Government NSW is slated for Moama, we want to make sure all prospective candidates have the opportunity to ask questions and get the information they require."

"So we are asking anyone who can't attend the Moama workshop to please register with us and we will arrange a session with you accordingly," Mr Dodds said.
