Six-Week Lenten Retreat in Portland

Our Lady of Hope Parish, in collaboration with the Jesuit Community of Maine and the Ignatian Partnership of Maine, is offering a six-week Lenten retreat. It includes a series of daily prayer exercises which help participants to experience God's unconditional love and to live out of that love. It is open to all who desire to be closer to God, regardless of denomination or previous retreat experience. Participants will seek to deepen their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ by praying with Scripture and allowing Gospel passages to speak to their life experience. Those who participate are asked to pray 20 to 30 minutes a day, use a journal to record their reflections after prayer, and meet once a week with a prayer guide. There will be a group meeting in Portland at the beginning and end of the retreat. The retreat begins with a group meeting on Sunday, February 11, from 2:00 to 3:30, at St. Pius X Hall on 492 Ocean Avenue in Portland. At that time, you will be given an overview of the retreat, meet briefly with your prayer guide, and receive materials for the first week of the retreat. The weekly meetings with your guide will be arranged by you and the guide, so bring your calendar. The cost of the retreat is $50, due at the meeting on February 11. Financial assistance is available if needed. The registration deadline is Thursday, February 1. For registration information, contact Our Lady of Hope Parish at (207) 797-7026 or Fr. Paul Sullivan at[email protected].
