Grant Opportunity Available for Law Enforcement Officials…

SIKESTON - The Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety is offering a grant opportunity to local law enforcement agencies beginning May 1. Regional grant funding will be used to cover the cost of requested equipment that will help reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries on roadways. Agencies must provide justification on how the equipment will help make Missouri's roads safer. The items this grant normally awards out include: flashlights, medical trauma kits, portable breathalyzer tests, rain jackets, road flare kits, safety vests, Stalker radars, tint meters, and traffic cones. Application submissions will be accepted May 1- June 16.

Awards are based on the following criteria:

  • Items received from this grant in the last several years
  • Involvement with the Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety
  • Participation in the enforcement campaigns with MoDOT Highway Safety Division
  • Proposed impact of the request on reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries
  • Traffic data and statistics
