Experts from the Credit Analysis Department and the Agribusiness support department of Credit Agricole conducted an author's course of 10 lectures and practical classes for students in agriculture science of the master's program "Agrokebety" by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club. More than 80 students completed the online course and deepened their expertise in agricultural and financial matters.

"Our bank is aware of the specifics and features of agrarian business thanks to extensive experience working with agribusiness representatives and constant deepening of knowledge in agrarian matters. We see our mission, in particular, in sharing our expertise with the youth," says Nataliia Porvina, head of the Agro Business Support Department of Credit Agricole Bank.

"The special course "Agrifinance", which we created with Credit Agricole, is a powerful component of the educational program, where practitioners not only share their experience, but also explain how to work with finances in agribusiness in an understandable and accessible language for students. We are grateful to Credit Agricole for open communication with students and in general for support of the "Agrokebety" project, which this year unites young people from 9 agricultural universities across Ukraine," tells Anatolii Tsyrkun, head of the "Agrokebety" educational project.

As part of the theoretical block, CAU experts spoke about the basics of analyzing the company's financial statements, targeted financing, bank financing products, analysis of production programs, agricultural programs, and forecasting methods for the next season.

"Very soon students will become specialists of agricultural companies and in the future, perhaps, owners of agribusinesses. Thus, we created an author's program of lectures and practical classes, which are designed to help them effectively solve problems and cooperate with financial institutions. We strongly believe that the acquired knowledge will definitely be helpful to them, because in today's world the partnership of agricultural companies and financial institutions is an integral part of successful development," explains Ihor Hurzhii, head of the Agroexpertise Division of Credit Agricole Bank.

"The highlight of this project is that the course was conducted by a bank that specializes in agribusiness and has a unique department dealing with analytics and working with agricultural enterprises. It will not be an exaggeration to say that no other bank would have been able to develop a course for students inagriculture science as well as the representatives of Credit Agricole did. Each block of material was prepared with deep knowledge of the specifics of agribusiness," noted Oleksandra Ralko, associate professor of the Department of Administrative Management and Foreign Economic Activity, teacher of the "Agrokebety" program, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NUBiP).

In practical classes students learned to evaluate financial statements of agricultural companies, create production programs and use bank products depending on the need. As part of the strategic partnership, Credit Agricole also provides opportunities for students to undergo practical training at the bank.

"We talk in a simple language about the important aspects of financing companies in banks: what financial reporting is, how the bank looks at a potential borrower and what products it can offer depending on the company's financial condition. We do hope that in the future it will help students to speak the same language with financial institutions, and will make cooperation much more effective and efficient," highlights Olena Yefimova, head of Credit Analysis Department at Credit Agricole Bank.

"We received a lot of practical information and this is the main value of the course. It was interesting to consider topics about the balance sheet of a company and its components, credit programs of banks. Compiling companies' production process maps is also an exciting experience − this skill will be needed by agronomists and future managers of enterprises. Many thanks to the lecturers and organizers of the course", shares his impressions Andrii Ripenko, student of the "Agrokebety" program, NUBiP.

"Even more complex topics were presented in an accessible manner, some questions were explained several times by the lectors so that we better understood and learned the material. I would like to say a special thank you to the lecturers for such an approach", says Solomiia Stadnyk, student of the "Agrokebety" program, NUBiP.

Let us remind that at the beginning of 2023, in order to support Ukrainian students in agriculture science, Credit Agricole became a partner of the educational project "Agrokebety" by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club. This is an advanced master's program, created in cooperation with business and six specialized educational institutions for the training of highly qualified specialists in the agricultural sector. Credit Agricole has been a strategic partner of agribusiness for more than 10 years and is pleased to join the project and share its unique expertise with students, help them take the first steps in their career and strengthen the personnel potential of agribusiness.
