Volunteers requested.

City staff has received several calls and emails about stray and feral cats in the city. In response, the City Council supported City Staff working with Happy Tales and Lucy's Pet Pantry in Newton to assist with trapping, evaluating, and spaying and neutering the cats.

Volunteers are needed to identify the locations of stray and feral cat populations in the city and to assist with trapping and transporting the cats on future spay and neuter clinic dates in Newton. Volunteers will receive training on trapping the cats.

If you're interested in assisting with the stray and feral cat situation in the city, please call City Hall at 515-994-2649 to speak with City Administrator Jerry Moore or email [email protected].
