FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. - The following statement can be attributed to Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan on this week's vote in the U.S. House on H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act:

"The high cost of energy is impacting every small business across America, a frustrating reality given our nation has vast resources along with the best technology for producing energy through clean and efficient methods. SBE Council strongly supports H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, as it effectively addresses the reforms and actions that are needed to ensure our nation has a reliable and an affordable supply of energy. This is even more critical given unstable and alarming geopolitical circumstances. There is no reason why the U.S. should not be more self-reliant and secure when it comes to our energy needs, both in the short and long-term. Moreover, small and innovative businesses drive - and dominate - the U.S. energy sector. These are the businesses that drive local economies and jobs. These small firms create the innovative technologies that are helping our nation explore and produce energy more efficiently and cleanly. The measures embedded in H.R. 1 will ensure a safe America and a stable economic future for Main Street and all Americans."
